Dow Breaks 10,000: BIG DEAL!!!

10-28-09
369 Days to the 2010 Congressional Mid-Term Elections

So the Dow Jones finally broke the 10,000 barrier for the first time since last fall....BIG DEAL!!! Those yahoos on Wall Street may be popping the champagne  corks and partying like it was the good old days again, but we aren't. We are still fighting to keep home and hearth together waiting for our own economic fortunes to change. Sure, the Dow is a reliable barometer of how our economy will fare in the future and that for all intents and purposes the recession is over. Tell that to those of us on the ground waiting for the recovery to reach us. As is stands now, unemployment is at or near 10% nationwide. In Michigan the jobless figure is at 15% (one of the highest in the country) and Detroit comes in at 30%.... 30%!!! One out of three Detroit Residents is out of work and barely getting by on unemployment benefits that are almost depleted. In California, thousands of farmers and oil workers have been put out of work to appease radical environmentalists who would rather see families go on welfare that risk harm to either whales in the Pacific or small minnows in the Central Valley. Not to mention California is just about bankrupt, paying their bills with IOUs  and driving people out of the state with rising taxes (Nice Going, Arnie). Auto workers nationwide are watching their jobs sent overseas because of Union greed. People are cashing in their 401Ks and other retirement savings just to keep roofs over their heads. Wall Street got a bailout. The Auto Industry got a bailout. Mr. Obama....Where's our bailout?

"Enough Said!" Congrats, Wall Street.
